Job purpose

The Head of Insight is responsible for leading the IAB’s Insight team and overseeing the work that the IAB produces in this area.

The Head of Insight will work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer on the IAB’s overall Insight strategy to ensure maximum value is delivered for members and the wider industry.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Formulate the IAB’s Insight strategy and ensure the team’s work delivers against the IAB’s mission of ‘enabling better business’.
  • Build a program of best in class insight & research that enhances our reputation as a trade body that delivers outstanding media insight.
  • Lead the IAB’s Insight team, support their development professionally & personally.
  • Work across the IAB business to understand the different teams’ insight needs and, where appropriate, deliver solutions that meet these needs.  
  • Lead the Insight industry group making sure it has a clear objective and agreed set of outputs.
  • Work closely with the Director of Marketing & Marketing team to drive a step change in the impact of the IAB’s insight output internally and amongst members.
  • Be the face of IAB Insight externally at relevant industry and member events. Be a leading voice on the insight & research areas that matter most to the industry, our members and the IAB.
  • Responsibility for maximising the impact of the IAB’s Insight budget. 

 

Skills, knowledge and characteristics

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret data and draw meaningful insights.
  • Experience of and passionate about managing insight & research programs through from commissioning projects to delivering results.
  • A track record of delivering high impact, insight-led research projects.
  • Skilled communicator and presenter, able to easily translate and summarise complex issues in an engaging way.
  • High adaptability and comfortable with ambiguity – our business and industry moves at pace. When it comes to change, the question is often not when, but how fast.
  • Innovative thinking – creative in exploring new ways of gathering data, willingness to experiment with new methodologies and tech for insight generation.
  • Proven leadership experience of managing teams and driving collaboration.  
  • A willingness to lead from the front to inspire and motivate their team.
  • Understanding of industry trends and our competitive landscape to position the IAB for future success.

Flexible working

We have a hybrid approach to working, with the whole company working from the office in Covent Garden every Wednesday and we ask team members to come into the office on at least one other day per week.
